Phoenix Roll Past Webb Institute to Open Season
Queens, NY – The Vaughn College Phoenix opened their 2025–26 season in dominant fashion with a 119–21 victory over Webb Institute on November 1, 2025, at the Elmcor Recreation Center. Vaughn set the tone early with a 60-point first half and never looked back, controlling every phase of the game.
Game Overview
The Phoenix came out firing, attacking the paint and converting in transition to build a 60–13 halftime lead. Cedric Green and Nathaniel Edwards orchestrated the offense with pace, helping Vaughn rack up assists early and open the floor for the rest of the lineup.
The second half was more of the same, as Vaughn's defense tightened even further—holding Webb to just 8 second-half points while forcing 39 turnovers. The Phoenix dominated the glass with 35 offensive rebounds and continued to push the tempo, piling on 59 more points to close out the win.
Key Performance
Ivan Alvarez powered Vaughn on both ends of the floor, finishing with 20 points (10-of-14 FG) and 10 rebounds. His physical presence around the rim and ability to finish through contact made him one of the most impactful players of the afternoon.

Kevin Guerrero was extremely efficient around the basket, scoring 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while adding 5 rebounds and 5 steals to spark the Phoenix defense.
Nathaniel Edwards nearly recorded a triple-double, posting 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, controlling the tempo and creating opportunities for his teammates all game long.
Cedric Green added 17 points and 8 assists, knocking down key perimeter shots and providing stability in the backcourt with zero turnovers.
Off the bench, Anthony Diaz provided an additional lift with 13 points, including three made threes, giving Vaughn another scoring burst in the second unit.
Team Stats
The Phoenix shot 47.7% from the field (53-of-111) and forced 39 turnovers, converting many of them into fast-break points. Vaughn dominated the rebounding battle 68–28, including 35 offensive rebounds that led to numerous second-chance opportunities.
