Phoenix Catch Fire in 7-0 Victory Over Webb
New York, NY – The Vaughn College men's soccer team closed out their homestand with a dominant 7-0 victory over Webb Institute on Sunday afternoon at 130 Central Rd. The Phoenix controlled possession from start to finish, earning their most decisive win of the season.
Match Overview
First Half:
Vaughn wasted no time setting the tone. Vladimir Francois opened the scoring in the 9th minute after he capitalized off a deflected free kick, quickly following it up with another in the 22nd minute off a pass from Kleider Rodriguez. The duo continued to connect, switching roles in the 43rd minute as Rodriguez finished a setup from Francois to extend the Phoenix lead to 3-0 heading into halftime.
Second Half:
The offensive pressure only intensified after the break. Mohamed Alqafri netted his first goal of the season in the with an assist from Moaz Amer. Amer then added a goal of his own shortly after, finishing off a feed from Joseph Fernandez. Vaughn continued to pour it on late as Mohamadou Conteh scored in the 86th minute from a Rodriguez assist, and Michael Noyer capped off the match in stoppage time with a goal assisted by Daniel Celis.
