Duncan-Lovell Shines in Singles Match against Culinary Institute
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Vaughn Warriors men's tennis team squared off against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent Culinary Institute on Saturday, April 18. The Steels of Culinary Institute entered the game with a 2-1 record in conference play and a 2-3 record over all. The Warriors were looking to turn their season around by picking up their first win on the year.
The Warriors competed in six singles matches and three doubles matches. Though they were missing some key players, the Warriors were able to stay competitive against the Steels. Mattaus Duncan-Lovell (Brooklyn, NY) was a bright light for the Warriors. He earned the lone point for Vaughn College, winning his number six singles match 10-8. This marks the first win for Duncan-Lovell since joining the men's tennis team a couple of years ago.
The men's tennis team would go on to drop their fourth conference game to the Steels, losing Saturday's match 8-1. The Warriors will be back in action against non-conference opponent Cooper Union on Sunday, April 26.
