Phoenix Compete at St. John's Tom Farrell Classic
QUEENS, N.Y. – The Vaughn College track & field team continued its inaugural season on Saturday as three Phoenix student-athletes competed at the Tom Farrell Classic hosted by St. John's University.
Cedric Green, Bruce Durham and Demetrius Carty represented Vaughn against a competitive field that featured collegiate programs, track clubs and unattached athletes from across the region.
Green opened the day in the long jump, recording a mark of 4.52 meters (14 feet, 10 inches) in the field event competition.
Later in the meet, Green improved his 100-meter dash time from Vaughn's season-opening competition, posting a time of 13.99 seconds. Carty turned in Vaughn's top finish in the event with a time of 12.33 seconds, while Durham crossed the line in 13.53 seconds.
Green also competed in the 200-meter dash, where he continued to show improvement by lowering his previous time with a mark of 28.74 seconds.
The Tom Farrell Classic marked the second meet in program history for Vaughn College track & field as the Phoenix continue building experience during their inaugural campaign.
