A New Era Begins: Vaughn to Compete in First Track & Field Meets This Spring
Queens, NY - Vaughn College Athletics has announced the launch of its first‑ever men's and women's track & field program, marking a significant addition to the department and expanding competitive opportunities for students. Under the direction of head coach Hakim Roberson, the Phoenix will compete in two meets this spring: the Queens College Invitational and the Tom Farrell Classic, hosted by the St. John's University track program.
Coach Roberson is currently laying the groundwork for the new program, establishing training standards, evaluating interested student‑athletes, and preparing the roster for its inaugural season. The two spring meets will serve as the team's first opportunity to compete against regional collegiate programs and begin building Vaughn's presence in the sport.
Vaughn Athletics encourages all current and incoming students interested in joining the Vaughn Phoenix Track & Field Team to contact athletics@vaughn.edu. All skill levels are welcome as the program forms its first roster.
This spring marks an important step forward for Vaughn College Athletics as the Phoenix officially enter the world of collegiate track and field.
If you want, I can also shape this into a website news post, a press‑release version, or a shorter announcement.
